Improvise with licks and riffs?

Hi all, My name is Ken and I live in the Netherland Antilles.
I'm a newbie and gt is the greatest guitar site ever, it's really fun and the instructers are all great. Currently I'm doing the country course.
I practice a lot of licks and scales, but still doesn't know how to improvise with all the licks & riffs I learn.
How do I blend all the licks to create a solo? Is it even possible?

You learn and practice chords, scales, licks, melodies, etc. everything you can! And then you practice playing those things in a song at the appropriate moment.

Basically you have to create your own "pre-programmed" catalog of licks you can pull out at a moment's notice to use whenever you desire the sound of "that lick" in "that place".

How do you know which lick goes where? :) I have many tutorials that can teach you how to learn this:

Alrighty.. did I say you guys are the best? Oh and I love your teaching style, keep up the goodies. I'll go through the tutorials, some I've been through already though but much more to learn. Thanks man.
