I am a begginer. I have an older acoustic Yahama guitar and am trying learn the distance from the strings to the guitar body in the region of the sound hole. I am concerned that the neck may not be at the correct position. I am new to this, but it seems that the strings are sitting too high in that area. The strings at the neck seem ok. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Johnny

PS I love this site. Merry Christmas to all!

As a beginner, I would avoid doing any sort of repair on your own. Take your guitar to the closest music store that has a guitar tech on hand. Drop it off and have them look at it and make whatever necessary adjustments need to be made. Should be an easy solution, and just let them know you want the action adjusted. I would have them look over the entire instrument as well and perhaps even re-string it. This can make a difference too.
