My daughter (10 yrs old) just got an Ibanez Mikro which is 3/4 scale. You can see a few places where saved some money. The nut looks like it belongs on a toy and the sound is a little hollow, even when unplugged, compared to my RG-170. But considering the price($130), I am pretty impressed. I find myself playing it more than I expected.

It may still be kind of big for a 6 yr old but they grow fast. This Mikro doesn't look, to me, like a disposable guitar.
