As usual The Kinks are the greatest overlooked rock band ever. Everybody has their favorite Kinks song, and nobody thinks of them when listing their favorite all-time bands. Which leads me to my urgent plea. I have been trying to find an accurate tab for Waterloo Sunset and the complete mess that is on the internet is astounding. Could you please have one of the instructors tab and teach this song? It's a beautiful, haunting melody and I imagine has a lot of instructional guitar value.
New Songs!

Hey everyone
I am new here and saw the songs, and I was looking for the band, Slipknot. They are a relatively new (3 or 4 years old) band that I have really been looking forward to play. Like Jazzfan said about The Kinks, Slipknot has been overly looked over and discriminated. They wear some very scary and to some, disturbing, masks, but don't let this distract you from the music. They are amazing with tricky rhythms. I would love it if GT put Sulfur or, better yet, Snuff. These are my 2 favorite songs by them. Sulfur would probably be a 3 star, and Snuff, not sure. Sulfur would definitely be Metal, but Snuff, again, not too sure.
Another band that I would like for GT to consider is The John Butler Trio. John Butler is one of the most amazing guitarists I have seen. Possibly greater than the legend, Jimmy Page. John's music consists of rhythms that seem like intricate solos and the solos are like a creation of god. He fingerpicks on his 12 string acoustic to get these results, and he sure does, in my opinion.
A 3rd, and utterly great band is Bullet for my Valentine. They are another new Metal band that not everyone may like, but I sure as hell do. Their album, Scream Aim Fire, is full of hard hitting but speedy guitar licks and is a great success. Personally, my favorite song on that album is Waking the Demon. Their song Hit the Floor from the album "The Poison" is another great favorite. It has a hard hitting and heavy rhythm and pulls out with great riffs and licks.
Please consider these bands, as they will surely blow many away. :D

Oye Como Va: Ok, so I do the intro down all disciplined, then I can't help myself. I play to my CD and it just becomes an Am freeforall! :) But I love it! I feel like I am playing call & answer with Carlos. :) Somebody make me take the damn lesson! :D
In many ways the Song List is helping me rediscover forgotten artists.

...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

i know you guys can only do songs that you can get the rights for, is there any way for subscribers to see a list of what songs are open for lessons to maybe suggest ones on that list? i've seen a lot of recomendations only to have it pointed out that they are not on an aproved list.
thanks

I know the whole process is pretty frustrating for you guys. It is for us too.
The lists keep trickling out, 20 titles here and 20 there. I go through them personally, and then a team of instructors does too. We then film them "coolest first" so it isn't that we are holding out on some cool titles. We just don't have enough.
Some time this year we will get some large lists approved all at once, and then we will need some help picking which to do first.
Hopefully that will be soon, but so far everything has proceeded at a snail's pace. The publishers are just really not set up for this, it is a new thing for them, and they get stuck on the details.

OHohohohoh!
Awesome. I'm going through Carry on Wayward Son right now, it's awesome.
I know someone said no song suggestions, BUT....
Walk this Way, by Aerosmith. Excellent solo, which has some really interesting fingerwork apparently.
Cliffs of Dover, by Eric Johnson (I don't even need to justify this one. You know you want to....)
Surfing with the Alien, by Joe Satriani. It's one of his most famous instrumentals, and for a good reason. Great for your fingerwork.
ANYTHING by Steve Vai. Learning his music is a great way to see intriguing ways of manipulating a guitar to produce all kinds of sounds. Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are also really good with using modal theory, so it's also a chance for you, the instructors, to show just how modal theory and different guitar concepts can fit into a song. My favorite Steve Vai songs are "For the Love of God" and "Bad Horsie," but I'd love to see instructional videos for any of his songs. (Okay, come on. You know this would be a really fun, challenging video set. :) :) )
And of course, "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses.
And anything by Phil Keaggy, who is another amazing player.
Thanks so much for the help! Seriously, I tried learning Carry on Wayward Son before, and it got almost nowhere. Seeing it broken up into different bits really helped me out. I'd love to get my teeth into something more substantial, like a Joe Satch song or Steve Vai lick. Let me know. :)

Oh, and I noticed that you haven't posted any country songs. Here's one idea:
Brad Paisley's "Cliffs of Rock City" link here
This is a very, very good instrumental. Some people think it's a tribute to Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover." Either way, it'd be a great addition for the country players to try out.
