Any thoughts on John Mayer's new album? I am a big fan, and of course enjoy the record; but would would love to hear some feedback. My main reason for posting is that I feel John Mayer is one of the few artists out there where high musicianship and good guitar playing are a priority for a pop artist. Norah Jones and others prioritize this as well, but John Mayer I feel in many ways leads the forefront on writing great pop songs with equally as good guitar playing and musicianship. I would like to consider him the Eric Clapton of a new generation.

So, let's hear it; any and all commentary is welcome. Love it? Hate it? I would say it is unfair to compare it to CONTINUUM; his last record, but I am happy to hear any and all thoughts.

As I grew up in the late sixties and early seventies, I have had the pleasure of hearing some great musicians, singers and song writers. After several John mayer albums, I have to say he makes the grade as a truly talented, professional musician, singer and songwriter. I do like the new album very much.

Nice to hear! I would agree. He is a rare type of artist in the pop world in this modern age; as he prioritizes great guitar playing just as much as his song writing. I would also recommend the "Where the Light Is" DVD, as it is a live show he did where he performed 3 sets. I was lucky enough to be at this performance in the audience.

Here is a live video from that performance;
