Are there any good programs that will mess with the input on your computer that anyone knows of? I just hooked my guitar up to my computer through the mic jack on my pc and i was just wondering if there was anything that would give me some nice effects. Thanks

Cool Edit is really good to mess around with recorded clips.

VST plugins in cubase are the standard. Even though there's a lot you can do inside a computer, try to have the best sound to go into it. If you want to record yourself, buy a pod, or a sansamp, and your sound will be much better than direct. Tweaking a crappy sound will never make it decent. Tweaking a good tone will make it better.

I'm not too serious about recording yet and i am a little short on cash now so i was really just looking to play around a little. I would like to get soemthing like a pod but i just can't afford it. Anyway, thanks for helping out.

Line 6 Makes a product or at least used to make a product called amp farm that gives you all kinds of amp models and effects. They still have the software listed on there website but the link took me to digidesigns web page so I am not sure if they still make the softwareor if digdesigns took over production.
They also have a product called the guitar port whick is a combination or hard ware and software and from the reviews I have read it appears to be an awesome product.
I have used amp farm and it rocks I havent had the oportunity to try guitarport but I am sure it is as good as any other Line 6 product and from waht I have seen it is about half the price of a pod..

Hope this helps
Al
