Hi there!

Your website inspired me to buy my first guitar today - it's a cheap Gibson-alike, with a single cutaway and 2 double (humbucker?) pickups.

I've subscribed and looked through the initial lessons, which went through the anatomy of the guitar, but I'm a bit stuck.

The one I have has a switch at the top which says Rhythm and Treble. Now am I right in thinking that the Rhythm will activate the pickups closest to the neck and the Treble closest to the bridge? I'm just leaving it at the moment in the middle position, will it make a difference at the moment which one I choose?

Also I have 4 dials - I'm assuming 2 for volume and 2 for tone. None of them are marked, so I don't know which dial does what, and unlike most things I buy my guitar didn't come with instructions! Am I right in thinking that the ones closest to the strings do volume and the ones closest to the bottom of the guitar do tone? Also that the dials are laid out to match with the pickups?

If so I've got a handle on volume, but while I'm learning should I set the tone to something I enjoy hearing, or is it better to have them at a certain setting to help me hear what I'm playing?

Thanks very much in advance for your help - I've been playing about 3 hours now and my fingertips really hurt, but I'm really enjoying the lessons!

Thanks :)

Congrats on your new guitar an pursuit/obsession!!! And don't hesitate to ask questions like that. We all do it; that's why we are here. :)
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.
