My little finger is double jointed.. I did initially think I would always have problems with it.. but over time your hand and fingers just naturally work out a way of overcoming the problem through perseverance and time. Just like with most problems really.. the mind/body adapts to the situation and what is required. I don't know of any tricks for this.. maybe someone else might.. but I think it's just a matter of giving it time to accommodate..

I'm not double jointed but I imagine that the muscles and the nerves that control the tendons and all else which tell your fingers and hands where to go and what to do when they get there are the same.

Eventually, through proper practice and reps, it will all fall into place.

Having a relaxed hand is your best bet in getting rid of the problem fast. The more tense your hand is, the more your joints will lock up. You can see the effects just by moving your fingers right now. If you move them slowly and relaxed, you most likely won't have an issue with the double jointed fingers. Tense up and increase the speed and you will start locking up.
