Distortion

I need help with my distortion pedal. I can get the distortion to sound pretty good but i have to turn the tone on my guitar all the way down. If i leave the tone up and try and use the distortion, it sounds raw and i get a lot of feedback. But when i turn my tone all the way down and i bypass the distortion, i get the no tone clean guitar. Could it just be my ****ty DOD tec4x or is it me not using the correct settings? Thanks

try turning down the 'high' settings on your amp... Feed back is usually killed when you find the frequency the feedback starts. It's usually in the high range, but it might be somewhere else.
