Hi,

I used the holiday today to add on some solo parts to this DT's song. The full song is 16 mins +, need to find a place that I can load it. n the meantime, here's a small part of it.

I figure if DT puts out backing tracks on their CD, they would be expecting someone to do this However, if anyone is sure this is violating copyrights, I'll take it down.

Thanks RickBlacker :D, appreciate you taking time to listen to my stuffs.

I just did a major over haul on my axe and wanted to try out the new set up, so I figured to get DT 'backup' for me ;)

All I used was the 'C' penatonic scale and build the whole solo from there. And I can safely say , this is the most technical I can play.
The penatonic box is my bread & butter :)

Hey,

Rick is fine... :)

So, you played your riffs over the DT backing track soly in C pentitonic? The entire thing? That is very interesting. How many of the forms did you play?

That is very cool to hear. I'm currently trying to memorize all positions from start to end. I've been using Cris's exercise starting at 'A' minor and working up the fretboard in all positions.

Hi Rick,

I'm not really into the technical playing stuffs, like all the different modes etc..
EVERYTHING I do on the fretboard are just built from penatonic, major and minor scales... or at least that's what I think I am doing. But penatonic always comes first. I just visualize everything based on the penatonic. Like if I'm playing C penatonic on this piece, the major scale would be E-flat. Then I would shift from this scale and play some odd notes in between to get some exotic sounding scales - I have been told those are call harmonic minor scales.

Actually, I don't know how to read notation or tabs at all. I really tried learning notation a few times ( even get the 7 years old neighbor's kid to teach me ! ). It's all too confusing for me.

I'll be the first to raise my hands and admit I cannot duplicate what I played, everything is just improv.

So, that's me in a nutshell - as far as playing gtr is concerned :)
