The Bubble Technique

Has anyone heard of the bubble technique.
It´s supose to be a new technique as revelutionary as the 2 hand tapping technique
but you could achive more speed and tone clarity!
I´m very curios what it is!

Sounds interesting. Hope whatever it is lives up to the great promo they're giving it. Can't for the life of me figure out what bubbles have to do with the guitar tho.

And if this thing is so revolutionary, why the **** don't they explain what it is. I don't really believe in it, I think its just a nice joke of a failed tapper. But I stay tuned.

Tapping is only a part of what makes Eddie Van Halen great.

Besides, if this thing is so great, why doesn't this guy just join a band like Eddie did?

I don't think you can patent a guitar technique.

They say Eddie VH used to play tapping with his back to the audience so no-one could rip him off.

The fact is, once it's known, it's in the public domain.

It would be great if he would come join us over here.

I have sent a mail to the guy and told him that he could apply to be a host.

All I can think of that is faster but easier than tapping is some kind of echo/delay effect.

What I mean is, you play four notes and when you play the next four notes the first four notes will sounds in between the current notes, like if you were playing eight notes.

Anyway, I have been messing around with such an idea using an real time effect program on my computer, and it can all end up very cool, and sound extreamly fast.

Well, just an idea, but I doubt something like that whould surprice the whole guitar playing scene haha.

Peter, I have done a lot of work in that area. I found a math formula for figuring out what echo setting would give me quarter notes for a particular tempo of song. It's the only use for algebra I have found since high school:

MilliSeconds = 60 / BeatsPerMinute

500ms = 60 / 120 BPM

If you are working with a sequencer, this will make life a lot easier.

Yes, but I use to set a background loop at for example 120 Bpm and set the echo delay to 2250 ms (one 4/4 measure + one eighth note) so the echo will not sound at the same time I play Quarter notes in the second measure.

In the second measure it sounds like if I'm playing eighth notes but I'm only playing quarter notes.

This maybe sounds strange but I hope you get what I mean, like kind of cheating.

Example, if I play these quarter notes (two 4/4 measures):
a - b - c - d - e - f - g - a

here's what will torture my ears =) :
a - b - c - d a e b f c g d a e - f - g - a

the middle part will sound eighths notes =) . Kind of cool effect, but it sounds best if you play clean non-distorted (it sounds like if you where picking with you fingers cause string jumps will occur often). Maybe we're talking about the same thing, maybe not =)

The Bubble Technique... isn't that a method of overinflating an economy, collapsing the existing market system, undermining the established power structure, and creating an exploitable environment?

hey, keep at it. I don't know your musical preferences but guitarists like Neil Young nad ohn Fogerty are sometimes very sloppy pickers that sound like they're all thumbs but still sound great. You don't always have to sound clean. Develope your own sound and style and keep picking!

..and not original in name since there is already a crosspicking technique generally called bubble picking (I've heard 'percolator' picking too).

Back to the old axiom that everything with guitar has been done twice. If the technique is so great, people would like him for his ability to play, a revolutionary way is just his vehicle...

The name "bubble technique" makes me think that it was invented by Michael Jackson. *michael jackson voice* "Bubbles, look at my new technique, tee-hee".

I can't wait to see some shred guitarist like Michael Romeo trying to be real cool while he explains his approach to the "bubble technique" :D

Dleo....You seem to be conflating eligant women with guitarists.  They are (for most part) different creatures entirely.

I remember hearing about revolutionary" ways to pick over the years but I always have some doubt when someone says one way will instantly make you faster or sound better. The names of techniques can also mean things depending on who is explaining them. From what I have seen, clear and clean sound usually comes from picking with a hand moving in an easy way and practicing regularly instead of using a special trick. It would be fun to see someone show the bubble picking method at speeds. Comparing it directly with alternate picking would probably be the best way to see if it really helps.
