Hey,
Was wondering if I could get a little insight on where to start search/shopping for an Electric Guitar?
Please keep in mind I am still new to playing(only a few months steady)and have little to no knowledge about Electrics.
I would appreciate any feedback or opinions. The more the better.
FYI, if it makes a difference, I plan to play more Blues then anything with it.

Thx :)

It depends an awful lot on what you want to spend.

Speaking economically then, in my very humble opinion, if you have no preference over humbuckers or single coils, then a Squier Strat (made by Fender) would be a good bang for the buck. (For that matter you can get HSS configured Squiers.) I have an SSS and while it's not as solid-feeling as spending a grand on a Fender Stratocaster, I really (really) like it and would not part with it unless/until it's replaced with an actual Fender Strat.

You might look at Epiphone for more of a Gibson style. I have a Special II, which is an entry level Epiphone LP style. I got it to save wear & tear on my Gibson, but now it's actually my go-to guitar. Feels real nice and solid to me and I like the tone.

If you are looking around, have a check at http://www.harmony-central.com/ for gear reviews on anything you find interesting. Take your time, making the purchase. And take reviews with a grain of salt, too. In the end it really matters what feels & sounds best to you.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

My recommendation would be to go to you local music store & play every guitar that you can get your hands on. Then make a decision based on what you like.

If you would let us know about how much money you are looking at spending that would be helpful. Then if you like hb's or single coils. I have just bought aan upgrade and looked at a couple hundred guitars. A lot of Labor day sales coming so be ready buy.

Since I'm just starting out, and this being my first Electric purchase, I don't wanna go all out the cost. Just something to get-comfortable-in-the-basement kinda feel. So, that being said I can't honestly say I'd put more then 5-7 hundred down on the guitar and amp.
I want to get to know the sounds and feel of an Electric(and improve my playing quite a bit) before I spend a bunch of money on a really good one.
So if any of you can suggest anything I might wanna look at in that price range I'd appreciate it.

Thx

It's all about taste but I would suggest for price and playability:

PRS SE 22

It is the Paul Reed Smith budget line but still a quality instrument. You have a pretty good budget and can get quite a good guitar for that amount.

The Squier & the Epi are half that. Just saying. I haven't played a PRS, but I trust Jeff's judgement. :)

I would try a Michael Kelly guitar. I have one I got for 350 new. Look at the company website to get history (petty interesting). Better made than a lot of the big names offering same price range. Great pickups and a lot have coil tapping capabilities. You would then have enough left over to get a Blacheart or Vox ACTV 4 tube amp. Remember tubes are much louder than ss amps so don't think low wattage means not very loud. Music 123 has 20 percent off right now and lots of places match prices so good luck and let us know what you decide on.

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys who helped out with suggestions.
In the end though, I went with a Yamaha Custom Pacific( with a nice maplewood neck) and a 15w Line 6 amp. The amp I probably could have done more with,...but so far I'm quite happy with both.
Again thx for the help all!!
