Gretsch Double Jet and Duo Jet

Does anyone have any experience with these?

The Double is only around $500 and the reviews on musiciansfriend are mostly positive, but I am very skeptical.... mostly because of the price.

On the other hand, I'm more likely to believe the reviews of the Duo which is much, much pricier. (White Falcon territory)

I currently play a Tele Deluxe through a Fender DeVille- usually clean. I'm looking for something with substantially more grit and attitude to it.

Any comments or suggestions? Thanks.

Back in the early 70s, I was on my way home with a newly-acquired pair of skis & bindings when I was approached by the owner of a Gretsch Roc Jet that I had rented the week before. He was willing to sell it to me for $200. Do you have any idea how many times I have kicked my own ass for cleaning out my bank account for those damn skis? :mad:
