I was just wondering, who has a style so unique that they are immediately reckognizable? Personally, I think Zakk Wylde has a great metal/hard rock sound. I have heard songs from other bands where I was thinking "wow, that sounds like a Zakk Wylde riff" and then I look it up and sure enough, it was him.

I figured someone would bring up Eddie. I guess Van Halen was in their prime a little before my time, but it seems like there are a lot of guitarists from the 80's rock era that sounded pretty similar. I do think EVH was one of the ones that stood out. I always liked his signature chorus pedal distortion sound.

I think you can distinguish most professional guitarists by their solos. They all have their different "sound" that is usually unique to them. Riffs get tricky unless you have people like Wylde who are noticeably unique.
