3 or 4 months ago I might have disagreed with you. But shopping for nothing in particular one day I ended up coming home with a 5 Watt Fender Vibro Champ. It lacks the attenuator and actually has a s/s preamp for effects & modelling. ...And those wonderfully glowing tubes! :D Previously I'd been using a 20 watt s/s Peavey Audition Plus. That quickly went on 'back up' duty.
