Learning Songs

Hello everyone, I am new to this site, love it, but i started playing about 6 months ago getting info from books, magazines, and everything in between. I have learned a lot, but i have this technical know-how, but confused as hell as to how to apply it to songs. (although I did pick up "twinkle, twinkle, little star", and "silent night") I want to move into stuff like chuck berry, or stevie ray vaughn stuff. If anyone has any pointers, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
