I've been play my guitar about six months. The last few weeks the index finger on my left hand has had pain in the joints. It finally got so painful I can't play some chords like the C-chord. Appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks.

Sounds ominously like arthritis or something. I think asprin is good for that.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Thanks. Someone else said the same thing. I'll see what happens.

Good advice would be to have a doctor check instead since guitarists will claim that when compared to the guy that actually screwed in the lightbulb, that they could do it better or faster! In other words, whatya askin' us for!? :p

Seriously, get it checked. You might have just inflamed the joint a little and the doctor will tell you to chill and take some Advil. If it's possible that it's worse, then not going is a bad way to go.

I fell on my hand a few weeks ago and went to the doctor after waiting several day because I was stubborn. Fortunately, not broken but it felt like it. So, wrist brace and Advil. The point for me is that i waited until it hurt more before I went in and now it's taking longer to come around and I haven't played guitar for about 2 weeks.

Stop waiting!!!

Now go clean your room :D
