any suggestions?
plucking
i find it hard to pluck the strings from the get-go, say a given slow song w/ simple chords. but w/ the help of tabs i could master everything (obviously, it's already laid out for you). but from scratch, i could barely know the techniques...
any suggestions?

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand the question.
It sounds to me as if you're saying you can follow tab but don't know where to begin when just playing yourself... if I'm right, then what you need to do is practice rhythm more... start by playing 4 downstrokes of a chord, then try 'down-up-down-up-down-up-down-up'. Once you can do that, you'll be amazed what variations you can come up with just by missing strums here and there intentionally.

You mean you are having problems on how to strum/pluck/arpeggiate the chords when all you got is a leadsheet with just the chord names on it and no tabs?
If this is so, then one way would be to listen to an original recording of the song and figure it out by ear. This is also a good excercise and you will get a feeling for it.
