Learning notes..

Should I be spending more time learning all the notes? I just finished GF1 and started GF2, but I really only know about 50% of the notes. I know what all the opens are (E, A, D, G, B, E) and the Major Chords......but now that I am moving on to the scales I am wondering if I should really know all the cords by heart before I keep moving on? Or can I just learn slowly and pick them up bit by bit?

I like to pick it up as I go. If you're working on scales, that will happen automatically. Remember to think of the octaves too because they're the same note, this cuts down the learning curve, then you can connect the dots as you move ahead.
