In a past issue of Total Guitar mag, the top 10 fastest moments were listed, with each guitarist and his respective song.

I only know the below....
no.1-Vai at 20.8 notes per second(from passion and warefare's The Riddle)
no.2-George Lynch at 19.8 nps
no.3-Kirk Hammett at 19 nps
no.4-Paul Gilbert at 18.8 nps
no.5-EVH at 18.7 nps
no.6-Satriani at 17.6 nps
no.7-Nuno B at 17 nps
no.8-Yngwie at 16.8 nps
no.9-Marty Friedman at 15 nps
no.10-Steve Morse at 14 nps

Can any one please tell me the songs for no.2 to no.10, I desperately need to know...

I DID get Total Guitar for a short while, but then they put the price up and took the number of pages down drastically, and i'd thought it was a bit overpriced before that.

Yeh, but Ā£5.99??? More than a bit over-priced for a magazine, methinks. Guitar world (does that still exist?) is/was Ā£3.50. Ok, so it didnt have the CD, but they said that was free anyway!

I've heard faster solos, I think, those were based on 'famous rock guitarists with long hair and spandex' weren't they?

you really got me was 70's mate on Van Halen I. I think it was just the mega fast playing thing was just "in" then. There {thankfully} seems to be more to it now.

"you really got me" was a cover version on their first album "Van Halen". This was , incidently , released in the 1970's. Hope this is clearer for you. This is why I don't think it was a list of the fastest solo's of the 80's. I also think p o r n o g r a f f i t t i was from the 1990's.

After reading the list, I think Total Guitar Rag needs to do a better job of researching their articles, some of the solos list aren't even the fastest for the artists listed, and the solos are from the 70's, 80's and 90's

ya rekon?
hey mr hrckid, thanx 4 clearin that up 4 me!i don't really know much van halen or anythin like that cos i listen 2 all the new stuff that's just been born.i still thinkthrash metal is gr8!it's just i don't listen 2 it, with the exception of MetallicA.i know a few songs, like staway to heaven, just not many.to be honest i think that is how metal musik should be, but people have lost the ability to do all that now!even the big M!(lissten 2 their album Garage Inc.!u'll c what i mean!)maybe Vai can still do it, but he's bout the only person.an maybe nick sterling.he's real cool, not famous, but he played like 70 shows in a year with this band!an he's 11 years old!

I totaly agree with pstring. I heard a song from Gilbert (can't remember the name, it was on a compilation of greatest solos) that blew my mind away. And it was really faster than Damage inc. It's a pretty fast song but come on!
