Hi, my english is not very good so i hope you will be able to understand me.
I'm learning to play electric guitar and i worked a lot on the bending technic, i play blues exercices.
Now, i have no more problem to bend full and i do it pretty fast but after i tried an exercice for full bending (simple full bending of the same note, many times and they say to mute it before release) , i'm wondering if i should mute (palming or with the tumb ??)the sound when i get to the right note, i mean for every bending without release, to not get that "cat" sound when i just pull up the finger.
It seems possible to mute the string fast enough with the pick after the bending then play the next note if its on the same string, but if it's on another string it will never be fast enough to be smooth.
So... My question is, before i get more used to do may it may be the wrong way, should i mute EVERY note that i have to bend without release before i play the next one ??? is it possible ? even the blues 1/4 bending ??? and Should i use the pick to mute it or another faster way.

Hey pcmad,
I wouldn't think you would have to mute every note you bend, blues is more if you feel it play it. If however you are referring to a lesson on here, I would need to view it before I answer.

If it's a lesson on here, give me a link to it, and I'll check it out for you.

Thanks for your answer.
Frankly speaking i don't even any more where was that tiny exercice but it made me aware that i was just pulling off (i hope its how i should say it english) my finger after i reached the note and that finally the full ben with NO release was like it was with some release sound bcs its not really possible to just pull off the finger vertically when the note is reached.
I watched so many you tube video and read so many lessons on the web, but in all of them you get only the movement you have to do to bend properly but they never talk about how you really release the bend.

How do you "remove" your finger after your reached the note if you its not a bend and release but just and bend then another note on another string.
Is there any magic movement with the finger bending the string, bcs if i don't mute my 1/2 or full bend after release, it seems its not very different than the bending and release of my score ..... god im lost

I would join as a Full Access member and do this series of tutorials from the link below. It's very simple, clear and the instructor does not make you fight to see what he's playing:

If there is no release on the bend, then you will have to mute the bent note. Let it ring for as long as you want, and then use your palm to mute it. You can also do this with the fretboard hand, but which finger you use depends on which string you are bending. On the 2nd string I would use the pinky on the fretboard hand to mute the string. This takes a lot more practice, than palm muting.

JeffS65 posted a link to a string bending tutorial that I posted a while back. It will show you what you need to know about palm muting, useful tips on string bending, and 16 bending positions. You may know these positions already, but you would learn some other stuff.

I really appreciate what you said about my lessons, it's nice to hear things like that.

I have to get ready for the gig tonight, but I'll be back on the boards tomorrow.
