found this site last night, looking about i was quite impressed so i thought i would try the first lesson if it was right for me being a total noob i would become a full member

not so, fundamentals 1 is a member area so i can't really check out if this site is going be right for me or (no offence intended understand their is 1000's of sites that try and get money from you and give little for it) if it's going to cost me to find out it's not as good as it claims

their is a few bits of lessons free but i am a total noob and they make little sense to me

i would just like to suggest that maybe opening fundamentals 1 to member who have signed for a free account might be a good way to gain some trust
and give a real idea of what you will be paying for

btw hi everyone, is it worth joining for a total noob ?

Having played less than 2 weeks i can certainly relate to the part about being new.

I myself signed up last night and i will explain why.

Being close to 40 and having small hands i figured playing guitar would always be beyond me.

I looked through several sites over the last week and found some that looked interesting and it boiled down to this website vs one other.

These are the reasons i went here:

1: Registering i found alot of useful information in the 24 free lessons

2: I love that i can download the lessons as .flv (flash file format) and play them back without having to be online.

3: I did the free lesson with fingerpicking by Lisa Mccormick and my girlfriend heard me playing and was amazed that i was able to do that from just that one lesson.

4: Having struggled with learning the major chords for the last week and a half i went through the guitar fundamentals and in a few lessons and a couple of hours i made more progress than since i started. (Big shout out and thanks to Lisa Mccormick and Chris Schlegel :D )

5: The videos are nice and great quality and filmed with lots of closeups to show you exact positioning etc.

6: The instructors that i have watched so far all have a great way of explaining concepts in a way i can relate and understand.

7: just browsing the sheer amount of information i know it will take me a long long time to digest it all though i look forward to that journey.

Its worth every penny to me, i am almost positive it will be for you as well.

Even if the later stuff is way way beyond me i already got more than my moneys worth.

Hope this helps

Best Regards

thanks for the reply Noxxio

I think I will just upgrade for a month via paypal and have a look for myself
after reading your review/advice

it's not that much money at all to upgrade and if i learn somthing i am sure i will stick around.

When I started, I would have killed for all this info and helpful staff. But, that was oh so many years ago. This site has plenty for all levels of playing and I would be hard pressed to think you couldn't get something from these lessons.

What is really great is the building blocks that the Fundamentals will give you. I've played for a long time and can physically play fairly well and understand what's right but I had little in terms of actual theory and even Fundamentals 2 has some great base theory that makes it so easy to build from. It's not scary stuff either...Just very useful.

Hi,
I will throw in my 2 cents worth about this site. I joined in early December and was a total beginner, never held a guitar before. The Fundamentals I and II lessons are taught by Chris and he is a great teacher for beginners. He knows what he is talking about, is a tremendous guitarist, and is a great teacher. Sometimes the best player in the world does not have the teaching skills to help a beginner. He also has patience and doesn't make you feel dumb and if you have any questions you can ask through the forum and he gets back to you by the next day. All the other instructors are good too and you can reach any of them through the forum. This site is the best I have found and is certainly worth the small price of admission.
