Hi,

I've been playing guitar for a couple months now and i can play quite a few songs, based allot around Oasis, but i adore the foo fighters and i really want to learn Everlong, would it be possible at this kind of stage? and also, is there any other songs i could make sound good and perfect?

Thanks

Foo Fighers write some very good music, and most of it is very simple too. Go for it, you could learn a much more technial song if you wanted, but start slow so you can learn more and not be thrown off when you can't get a riff down. Easy songs for rock... lets see.... try some AC/DC tunes, Boston has easy stuff. I could go on, but your best bet is to take your favorite bands and learn their riffs/songs. My best advice, when learning a new song, if its going harder tha it seems, look at what chord shapes go with the notes, that way you'll have a better placing for your fingers and you'll move around more effeciently and smoother.

I', old and my first two songs I learned back when (in order) were Rush's Fly By Night the, Led Zeps' Black Dog. Fly By Night was easy enough for my but Black Dog has always been a challenging song to pick up even if you can play a bit. I made it a project to learn it. Meaning, I didn't expect that I would learn it in a night but that I was going to learn that song and whatever pace until I got it. It took my about 2.5 weeks of night half hour to 45 minute practices before I started getting the fingering and groove. Even after that, it was another week where I could play it kinda decently. So, that month and the one before it were the total time I had been playing.

Moral: No matter what you level now, if you take your time and work on something you can get it. It's the patience that is required. Set it as a goal and work through it.

That is some good advice. I have a just a few songs I have been messing with but just didn't think I could play them yet. You have inspired me to practice them more (as in everyday). :)
I stay in the dog house its easier that way...

Try Jailbreak and Sin City. Aside from AC/DC try Sympathy For The Devil by the Rolling Stones.
