the pentatonic shapes????
Why is it every time I look these up they are somewhat different? They say there are 5 pentatonic shapes, but different books, websites and videos have small changes .. The only one I have found to be consistent is the Am shape, which is always .....5-8 ..... 5-7..... 5-7 ..... 5-7 ..... 5-8..... 5-8 ..... but the others seem to vary------- SO WHICH ONES ARE CORRECT AND WHICH ONES SHOULD I COMMIT TO MEMORY????

Hey Joe,
If you do a search for Pentatonic shapes in the lessons here, you will get one by Christopher Schlegel which shows you all five positions (in fact I think the lesson is called The Minor pentatonic scale: All 5 Shapes).
Hope that helps,

Yikes, that's odd. There are 5 basic shapes (or "boxes"; I call them frameworks). This is due to the fact that there are 5 notes in the pentatonic scale. And each note gets a chance to start it's own box shape. And each box connects to the next box.
Look here for my lessons on pentatonic scales, what they are and how to practice them. Thanks to head_creeps for pointing these out!
