That's right, I finally made the transition from a game to the real thing!

One thing I was wondering is are there others who have made that change to find it was easier because they have the basics (albeit extremely simplified) to finger positioning and right hand timing, or harder because you're used to those extremely simplified positioning?

I've only been at it for about a day and a half and find that I've been grabbing the information at a good pace (at least I think I have). I'm sure my finger stregnth and speed are up to par because of the games, only thing left is caluses and chords, and of course experience and repetition.

I found this website about 6 months ago and have been puttin' learning off until I decided about makin' learning guitar my new years resolution. Now I can't wait!

If there are others who have done this, or instructors who have experience teaching those who made the same transition lately, let me know any tips/tricks/other that you've seen that made it easier.

Thanks and see ya

I am far from an expert on any of this but I can't see how it would slow the learning curve although the amount of help you get from it could be questioned. Left/right hand coordination could be boosted somewhat, I guess.

I am barely getting started myself after begin around an amateur bluegrass band while growing up. But GH had a role in re-energizing my interest. Once I get started I plan to try using GH, with some cheat codes, to create a backing track. I know there is a no-fail cheat. With that and the crowd volume turned down, backing tracks should be easy to record. Playing along with them will be a different story.

When i used to play it, i was on expert. I think it screwed me up more than not.

Give it a few more days for the lessons to get a lil more indepth. Cause it will become a challenge.
