I heard Dave Gilmour does a lot of compound bends, so what are they? It would be cool, if anyone cd provide examples.

Compound bends usually mean bending more than one string at a time, ie... fret 2nd&3rd string at the 7th fret and bend both up a whole step, thats one example...

I thought it was when you bend a note, and bend another string (that stays silent) then you pick the note that's already bent, and release the bend...

I guess it's another one of those non-specific terms that could mean just about anything, as far as David Gilmour is concerned you'll probaly hear him hold one note static while bending another, while someone like Jerry Donahue takes the concept of compound bends to another dimension

member of the hellecasters, nickname, "bending king of the universe", that guy is totally insane, he can bend 3 strings, each one havind its particular note and target note, he is a monster!!

He might be an alien, but if you looking up impossible, mind bending, multiple string bends in the dictionary, I think you'll see his picture.

Obviously though he doesn't have a Floyd Rose Bridge. Bad enough Trying to bend one string with a Floyd.

A compound bend is when you hit a note, bend, hold, bend to another pitch, hold, bend to yet another pitch... so on, as long as you want to. For example,

--5-(7)-(8)==(8)-(6)-5--
