Well about 3 months ago I started playing electic guitar and I do enjoy it, but as I've gained a better understanding of an instrument I've discovered that my real love is the bass. The bass lines are what I enjoy in songs and I am going to take up the instrument asap. Being as I'm a high school student and make about 6 bucks an hour at my work(figure 80 buck paychecks), what would be a good BEGINNING bass for me? Anyone have any suggestions?

I started out on a Mexican P-Bass, but now my main instrument is a Korean made Jazz Bass, (with EMG Pickups now)... I guess my point is a "beginning instrument" can be every bit as good as a custom shop instrument. Just play a few different models, go from store to store, and get something that's comfortable and sounds good that's in you're price range. You'll probably come out w/ something pretty decent if you spend $250-$300 on a used bass. But play it before you buy it.
