I got the job done. Thanks. It turns out that I was using the tuning feature on my amp incorrectly. I have always tuned by ear in the past. I learned to play a little bit on a nylon stringed acoustic guitar about 37 years ago.

Now learning to play metal is an entirely different ball game. I really haven't learned to control the sound coming out of my amp. Not even sure where to start. I went back to absolute beginner and learned a lot about my guitar. I also learned I have been holding my pick wrong. But other than that, I don't think that I picked up any other bad habits.
