Hey. At my bandpractices we've been making recordings of all the songs we do so we know how to improve. But my voice is usually drowned out by myself and the other guitarist. Right now I sing through a Fender Acoustisonic 100w Amp. I'm afraid that if I crank the volume to the extreme it could do damage to the amp. Should I try to get a p.a. system for my bands vocals? If so, what kind?

I had the exact same problem that you are describing. I am the vocalist/guitarist in my band, and I was always drowned out as well. I sang through amps for lack of anything better to use. The fact of the matter is, that putting a mic in a guitar amp is a bad idea. Not only will you get bad tone, since the two devices have such different input types, its only a matter of time till you will damage the amp. If you have the money, get a P.A. system. Have everyone gather all of their money, and go out and buy a used P.A. If you cant scrape together enough cash, go get a keyboard amp. This will handle the mic input much better. Hope this helped.

Hey I just thought I'd let you know I just got a 600W yahama PA system as an early B-day present. My birthday's the 23rd but my parents suprised me a few days early That oughta be able to overcome the volume of our 100w guitar amps and drums....
