Is your music online?

I'm new here and just wondering how many of you guys have music posted online? If you do, feel free to leave your url. I'd like to hear it.

I currently have around 20 tracks posted at mp3.com for free download or streaming. All guitar based music from blues to rock to acoustic.

Most of the tracks were recorded at home on the pc, a few were done in the studio down the street, and I also have some live tracks with a band from my jam night.

I'd love to hear your opinions of my songs.

iTunes should cover mp3 needs on OS X just fine- works for me.

I have one song up by my band, The Bocce Wagon- most of our site is toast due to an unfortunate RAID melt down incident at the beginning of November.

I had hoped there would be more response to this thread with all the names on the member list. I guess it's still a little costly for bands to get the technology necessary to record and post music online.

Well, that and time consuming. Uploading files via dial up is very slow. Also, my web service puts a 5 meg limit on file transfers. That's why you won't find my band's mellow sorta rock/funk classic The Jailbait Song re-uploaded just yet- it's 9:22 long.

He stops by my jam nights on occasion. I like to watch him play. It's like he makes no effort at all. Totally different from my approach... Lot's of tricks and speed. You can tell the guys that have lots of time to practice... :D

By the way, my site doesn't work and my band broke up. I'd upload some of it myself but for one I am too lazy and I don't want to upset Syn-Sear's bassist.

I'm kinda suprised too that more people don't have MP3's available on the web but
I'm wondering if it's cost that's a factor or if some people just don't want to give away their music for free. I mean, I've got stuff I recorded over the years but other than getting my ego stroked, what's the point of posting it and receiving nothing in return?

Just a bit off-topic:
What's the bare essentials for recording tunes into mp3 form? My kit is guitar, zoom505II, ross amp. What else do I need?

you need a program that will allow you to turn this music into a wave file, such as cool edit, then an mp3 encoder. If you need to orchestrate your music, you can use cubase (those programs all have freeware or shareware equivalent, just look for them on a web browser)
of course a sound card to link your zoom to (usually a mini jack plug) and voila!

Actually, I don't think Cubase has anything shareware... they've got demo stuff but you'll get no save option etc... and unless you're upgrading from a previous version you're looking at hundreds of dollars.
Right now the best deal out there is Pro Tools Free. It's a complete midi sequencer with 8 tracks of audio, nothing disabled and totally free. It's available on the web.. I don't have the link but just go to google.com and do a search...there's pc and Mac versions avail.
You're gonna need a half decent computer to run it too.. I use Mac and it's something like a recommended 266 processor, 200mb ram and a G3 or very close to it.
If all you wanna do is make MP3's though there's tons of shareware things for that... all you need is a minimum PPC.

I think cubasis is close to a shareware (I've seen it in magazines for 5 bucks, and sometimes offered with a sound card)

I use Cakewalk Guitar Studio 2. It's around $150-$200. I have a decent computer but certainly not the newest thing out. I usually record straight from my effects pedal into the sound card input and do one track at a time.

It does take a little money and quite a bit of time to get used to doing it all at home, but it isn't really difficult.

I did a lot of research online looking into products that would do what I wanted, and there are SO many things out now.

The Cakewalk program allows me to save the recording as separate tracks for future editing, as well as saving as a wav file. From there I open the wav file in Musicmatch Jukebox ($40. with lifetime upgrades and cd quality recording) tranfer the file into mp3 format at whatever bit rate I need (mp3.com is 128kbps for hi-fi) and upload it to the site. It took a lot longer before I finally invested in the cable modem. Now I can listen to hi-fi streaming of thousands of different artists for free (at least right now).

I was never motivated to use a computer until I found out the advances that have been made in home recording. Two years ago I didn't even know how to turn a computer on.

that's pretty much what happened with me!!
I was stuggling doing ping pong on my old tape 4 track, and a friend could actually have 96 audio tracks with real time effects with cubase VST!! That's what turned me on it! I now own a midi guitar, a sansamp, and I record in my basement with a pretty decent sound...

in the last couple days i have acquired -
a cdburner
nero (a burner/converter program)
and another program for a similar purpose...
trying to get ahold of a copy of cakewalk guitar studio for free.
