I must say, unless you're likely to be short of cash for a while, I would go the GT5 or over the GT3. The GT3 is missing features, and considering it's supposed to be a multi effects board that means you don't have to use other pedals, I would generally go top of the line (in that sort of area, I'm not recommending you go out and get a rack-mounted system). Though I am all in favour of cheaper guitars and amps for beginners, effects can become frustrating very wuickly if they are missing what you want, and seeing as you're likely to use them with whatever amp and guitar you play, I think it's generally a better investment to go for the good stuff (staying away from DOD stuff).
