Sorry I took so long to reply to this, haven't checked this forum out for a few days.
Anyways Ibanez makes a very large selection of feels/weights/styles/sounds in guitars, so really you can't stereotype the company. And yes, Ibanez makes some very sweet jazz guitars...just go to their website and take a look around.
What do I think about the S series? Seeing as I am and always have been a die hard Ibanez fan, I like the whole series. For specifics, I love the feel as does just about everyone that has ever picked one up and played it. I can't say much about the sound of the S series becuase I've never played one plugged into an amp, but I think that the Ibanez website awhile ago (not the current one) had a note about the series that the widest variety of guitarists bought them out of all their models. Metal, ska, blues, jazz, punk, classical, you name it. And don't let the fact that they are small solid bodied guitars fool you into thinking anything wrong. The general rule of thumb is that all guitar designers are incredibly good at their job and if they want to make any guitar sound like anything they can probably do it. You ever see a photo of that custom guitar from Robin guitars, I think it was, that was shaped and painted like a double bladed battle axe yet was designed for classical music? Yeah. Thats what I'm talking about.
