Try the above link, it shows his effects setup and layout. You'll also find a bunch of other stuff on that page about him and his stuff. I've never been too good at replicating sounds.. at least on purpose.. sometimes I just accidentally get the sound..
My guess is the Tube Driver plays a big part in the scream.. but I am not that good at effects..

I recall reading it was a Gibson ES-335. And the same for another of his awesome, uptempo instrumental tunes "Zap" from the album Tones. Which sometimes misleads people, because he typically plays a Strat.
I saw him in a club on the Ah Via Musicom tour. He played both tunes on his Strat. It definitely sounded different than the album versions. But just as good if not better. :)

Your fingers are important to that. If it doesn't sing unamplified then it won't sing amplified. Just my thought.

I have a strat with Dimarzios and a heavy blues pick-up in the bridge position-I can pull the tone lever out and mix this pick-up with any combination of pick-ups- so I use the neck pick-up then pull yhe tone lever out and the heavy blues pick-up mixes with the neck-it screams on the bends on the 15th fret-I've been working on cliffs of dover for a while there is a you tube
video with Eric playing a les paul with a 75 watt spider Line six-it's the best tutorial I've found so far-I've decided it's in your fingers- but my pick-up configuration helps alot-I'm only playing througfh a 20 watt Raven amp but
it works- it's not an easy song to learn- there is even a girl with a black les paul and a marshall who does a good job on it she's on the same you tube site as Eric-Randy Jones
