Hi ,
I'm 15 and I'm learning to play the accoustic guitar BY myself...Because I can't afford lessons ,and I was wondering where to go , what to read etc.? I watch some youtube Videos and I got some things down , But most the guys teaching you in the videos talk a little to fast and It's frustrating as hell.
 So do you know any good videos that will teach me the basics + how to play a song ...Because I get really ****ing tired searching for these videos and **** that goo way too Fast .

Also , I have a washburn guitar and I have strings from WAL-MART and the Low E AND the High E sound so ...Cheap and twany...Why is that ?
Thanks.

Learning to play by yourself isn't always easy...there's lots of free info online you can use, but the problem is staying motivated. A good teacher will help you pace yourself, help you keep from getting frustrated, answer your questions and make sure you learn the right stuff at the right time...so you make the fastest progress.

But I understand that money can be an issue. Check out expertvillage.com:

There are some great video lessons there done by real guitar teachers, so they should be easier to understand and follow than some of the YouTube stuff.

Best wishes with your playing!

I was about your age when I first started to learn guitar. One thing that helped me was to ask friends who already knew how to play if they would show me a few things. It is so much easier to learn from someone right there in front of you, then from a book or video, at least for me. You have it easier being a girl, I'm sure there are a number of guys who would love to teach a girl how to play the guitar.

Also, maybe check if your school offers classes for guitar. Not a lot of schools have the budget for a full blown music program these days but if yours does why not take advantage of it.

As far as your strings, I'm not sure what you got at WalMart, but a nice set of strings can really make a difference on any guitar. Take your guitar into your local guitar shop and see what they recommend. A decent set of strings does not cost very much and is probably the least expensive way to get a better sound out of your guitar.

Get a heavier set of strings (a thicker gauge)...I can't remmeber what I have on mine, but I'm sure they are the Zakk wylde signatures... BTW, strings are only 6-10 bucks for a set, and will last for a pretty long while. Invest in them! Like somebody said, there's got to be at least one kid, most likely a boy who'd be willing to teach you in return for a date- haha! I know that's not politically correct, but I went to High school 15 years ago, and that was what teens had done forever, so I can't see it changing too much since then! Good luck!

The best that I have come across is http://www.easystrummers.com
They show you how to play songs note for note and the price is not bad at all. The songs that you can learn there are good for beginners and intermediate players. I just learned 'wanted dead or alive' from them, had a question, emailed them, and had a helpful reply in about an hour.
