Hi all, for a number of years I've been just plucking around on this thing. I recently jointed this program and love it! It's helped put many of the little pieces together and make sense of the bits and pieces I've learned over the years. I've gone through the two beginner programs. Now, my problem is translating all I've learned into learning a piece. I've gone out and found TAB that I like and I see the chords...can play the chords...but don't know how to take what I see and make it sound like what I want. I think I'm asking about the strumming/picking patterns. How do I see the TAB and know what to do from there? Dumb question?

The thing with tabs is that they don't really show rhythm and don't have time signatures. The best way to learn it is to lay along with the song whether it be on the computer or a cd. What song are you trying to learn. Don't feel to overwhelmed, some people need to learn rhythm, some have it naturally.

It will take a couple of days to check things out, but I think I know something that will help you.

It would really help me to know what you want to play, and then we can figure out the best strumming paterns.

If you want something to get you started try a basic boom chick strum, check out my tutorial called "Basic Chords, and Rhythm".
