I'm new to this site. Been browsing and saw many Q's about gear, setup and tone. I've been playing for over 25 years and have done well over 500 gig's using so many different rig's and equipment that it makes my head spin. All the time searching for the "perfect tone". That being said, I believe I have finally found my "perfect tone". It may not be perfect for all of you but it could be a solid starting point. My influences are EJ, SRV, Hendrix, Trower, Gary Moore, Larry Carlton. Here is my setup. It is very close to EJ's violin tone.

Amp: Marshall JCM 800 2210 model head 100 watt. Matching 4x12 cab.
Settings: Master vol 2, Mids 0, Treb 4, Pres 4, rev 5, Gain 8, Gain vol 8.

Guitars: EJ strat 2 tone (My # 1). 57 RI LP Goldtop, 88 LP Std.

Effects: All these 3 pedals are run throught the FX loop. Boss super chourus all dials set at 1 o'clock. Ibanez analog delay set with a short slap. Boss EQ-7 set with bass tones at level and high tones set just above level.

Floor effects: Ibanez Ts9 tube screamer that is run between the guitar and my Crybaby Wah pedal. Tube screamer is set as follows. Gain at 3 o'clock, tone is at 0, volume at 10 o'clock. I use the Ts9 for an awesome creamy lead tone.

We'll, that's it! It may sound simple but it took me 25 years to figure out!

It took 25 years! All kidding aside, I've had the Marshall for a long time, it's 20 years old. But it was in the closet for a long time because I was using a Boogie. One day I pulled it out and did some extensive experimenting and about 4 weeks later I achieved my perfect tone. That was 6 months ago and since have sold the Boogie. I will never part with this setup! I'd probably go into a deep depression if it got lost or stolen.
