I just got a new Gibson Explorer with ebony finish from guitar center. This guitar is the best I've ever owned, and the best I've ever played. The sound is simply amazing, and the guitar is incredibly versatile. From country twang to death metal, this guitar does it all. The body style may take a bit of getting used to, but it's well worth it. The overall feel of the guitar is superb. If you haven't tried one or owned one, pick one up and play it. You'll realize that the people who said that the explorer was bad because of the shape were all wrong.

Congrats on the new axe! The Explorer sounds and feels great off the neck but I could never get use to the body shape sitting down. Then again guitar feel is such an individual thing - everyone is different.
Have to admit though, the Explorer is a cool looking shape!
Is it 22 or 24 frets? What are the loaded pups? Is it a neck through model? Post some pics!

It has 480R and 500T Gibson pickups i think. Great sound! It is a set neck, as all Gibsons are. It's completely stock right now, I just got it yesterday. I love it so far, and the only reason I don't find the shape uncomfortable is that I am fat-ish, and I stand up most of the time. I might post pics later.
