I know what mean about the shoulder thing....I played a Les Paul for about 8 yrs.(those things have to be at least 30lbs. +). My left shoulder been giving me problems ever since!

Sounds like your usimg the forearm/wrist/sweep picking/chicken picking skee technique!!
