I'm just starting out and picked up a new Levy's leather strap for my acoustic similar to this one:

The question I have is which end do I lace to the head? I first assumed that the thin end should be laced to the head given the pictures I see at the site above (laces attached to the thin end) and it would seem to keep the strap out of the way of my left hand. On the other hand when attached that way, the adjustment section where the two strap pieces come together ends up right on my left shoulder and kind of digs in. If I swap it around the and attach the then end to the body the adjustment "knuckle" is behind me, but it feels like it might be backwards?

So... which way is it suppose to be attached? :)

The thin end where the string is attached is the end you put on your headstock. But hey, if the other way is more comfortable, go for it as long as its secure. You could always take it back and buy another that is more comfortable.

As an additional thought - I've never been able to get on with a strap tied around the headstock of the guitar...

Depending on how much of a 'pride and joy' this guitar is, you might consider having another strap button - you could fit it yourself if you fixed it through the bottom of the heel.

Just a thought... :)
