Hello,
My name is Pat and I'm new to playing the guitar. My job takes me on the road about half the month and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a travel guitar that is very compact. Small enough to fit into a carry on suit case but still have a fret board large enough to emulate a full size acoustic. Even if its something I have to take apart. Is there such an animal?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pat

I have a Little Martin, that I bought for traveling. It sounds higher pitch than the full size. It loses the deep mellow sound of a full size Martin, but it plays the same. I don't like it. I carry on my full size Martin and the case fits in the overhead. Don't ever check your guitar in as luggage!

If I am backpacking, I take the Little Martin.

I had a baby taylor for that, and it was nice although it's not quite full size.

I know you said acoustic, but just in case it helps you or anyone out there, my MusicMan Axis fits in the overheads in its case.... Although I've also never had a problem with my guitars in with luggage - the airlines are very understanding in my experience if you give them some warning and smile a bit... :)

Although they do always try to sell you another seat first...

You may want to check out the Traveler Guitar brand - http://www.travelerguitar.com/

I recently bought a Speedster for traveling, I think the Escape is an acoustic.

Small enought to fit in a bigger piece of luggage or to carry on, and it's got a full size neck.
