if you hold the pick with your thumb, forefinger AND index finger.. you can achieve this.. though not sure it is very practical for shredding as I tend to hold the pick tighter when I am holding it like this.. this is the original way I used to hold my pick until I learnt it was easier to hold with just thumb and forefinger
