I too came back to guitar after having played for a while. Reading your reply to one of the recommendations, I saw that you stated you still have some beginner needs like not knowing how to read music. While this if not approached properly can initially slow you down by getting you somewhat "bogged down," anyone should know how to read some music. The point is, you said that you went through the beginner link and found it to be too easy. My question to you is this. Did you go through all of the lessons in sequence? I did. It only took me about 10-12 hours or so. There's a bunch of info in there. One of them being a very succint section on How to Read Music! down to 1/16 notes.

Tab is a marvelous system, except for the total void of TIME notation. Reading a little music allows one to at a minimum keep good time without having learned the tune before hand.
