Try this video for sweeps. Sweeps are the hardest thing to try to explain/master, and videos will never quite be 100% helpful since it's one of those things that would benefit from a physical instructor. This video does a really good job though:

I did a number of lessons on sweeping arpeggios here:

Also, this one has good info about triads and building arpeggio patterns in the first place:

I found John Petrucci's demonstration on sweep-picking pretty helpful. I think it was called Psycho Exercises.

Check out Michael Angelo's Speed Lives dvd - its almost entirely on youtube at this stage... he gets a lot of flack for looking goofy but his technique is unbelievable plus he is very good at explaining the movements and breaking them down to the componant parts. I bought the dvd ages ago and I have to say it pretty much covers everything you need to be able to play just about anything. I've heard great things about the John Petrucci vids too btw...

Actually, there's a whole bunch of free lessons on sweep picking on that website.

hey Jake !

Whatever you do, take your time as much as you need to get a feel for the technique, start extremely slow and only increase speed when you feel confident enough. That's really a key to mastering that technique...
