Welcome to GT! You'll get plenty of advice and knowledge here that's for sure. Hopefully you'll have a life long love affair with your guitar. I know I can't get enough of mine! :)

Welcome :) I think you'll be able to find all the lessons and stuff you need here. But yeah, enjoy!

By the way, what kind of guitar is it?

Be careful.. playing music can be habit forming. :)

Hey Sheresa.... :)

A and E eh? It's all difficult when you start out. The only piece of advice I'll bother you with now is to practice a little every single day, and you'll get there....

Just wait until you try a F or a B.... ;)

The main chords you will be playing are A, C, D, E, and G. The F and B chords can be a bit daunting at first. If you are already working on A and E, I would suggest the next chord you could learn is D. This is because many songs that have A and E in them also have D.

The shape for D, when you think you are ready for the next step, is:

E||-----|--2--|-----|
B||-----|-----|--3--|
G||-----|--1--|-----|
D||-----|-----|-----|
A||--x--|-----|-----|
E||--x--|-----|-----|

The numbers are for where your fingers go. So your ring finger is number 3 for example. The x's are the strings that you don't play. So really you are only playing the top 4 strings for the D Major chord.
