Hey Guys, great site.

I know this has probably been asked a gazillion times before and I apologise :o
I have tried to learn to play many times before and have become frustrated and given up because I have always tried to do the complicated stuff first.
I now have a new found inspiration and I am determined to learn to play, my uncle showed me some simple single note tunes and I actually played them and I could here the tune. My question is should I learn to play notes or should I learn to play chords first ? I'm thinking that if I play notes first this will build strength in my fingers in readiness for chords. I've tried to search the web for tab music but all I can find is chords, any suggestions.

My guitar is a Fender CD6 steel string - not the greatest but okay to start with.

I'd say learn notes first and then go to chords. Also, yes, go to Ultimate-guitar.com and learn some songs. If you come across songs that involve power chords etc..then go ahead and learn them. But yeah, good luck.
