I recently removed my neck pickup because there was some plastic still left from when i bought it. Now i have no idea how to screw it back in properly. They are standard issue Gibson humbuckers. HELP!

On my Les paul pick ups there are four screws on the plastic housing, that screw into the body.

I just dont understand how the pickup mounts in. I screw it in but once i lower the pickup for a correct height its loose and doesnt stay in. Please someone direct me in this process. My guitar is a Les Paul as well.

Is the pickup rattling around inside the surround? Take the pickup and the surround out again - you should see the pickup connected to the surround by 2 screws, each with a spring around it.

Check this is the case, my guess is that you may have turned the screw too far so the pickup isn't connected to the surround anymore. Once you have the pickup and the surround connected and the springs in place, you should probably have 4 screws to attach the pickup surround to the guitar. Do that and then carefully adjust pickup height. You'll want the pickup lower on the bass side to take account of the thicker strings and greater vibration.

Good Luck... :)
