I would save up for maybe an Epiphone G-400 SG (300 USD) Epiphone makes great guitars for your money. As a starter amp I would reccomend the Line 6 Spider III. They make those from 30 watts all the way to 150 watts for a good price. If you start out with that setup, I think that you should progress quickly and have fun. Also, if you have the patience to save up, you could get the Epiphone Les Paul. I own one, and it is amazing!
