and I was always taught using sheet music, and now all I can find is tabs and I'm having a hard time adjusting.

Any tips?

I had the same problem, but it doesn't take long to catch on. It's all pretty simple. Don't rely too much on the tabs posted online. The tabs don't include everything and they are usually wrong, but they do give you a starting point. You have to train you ear and listen to each part. 9 out of 10 times you can figure out it by listening without too much trouble.

A possible way around it...

Download powertab and download scores in the powertab format (*.ptb files). Powertab shows the notation as well as the tab, so you can use the notation if you prefer or being as you can see both together, perhaps it will help you 'get it'.

...and welcome to GT :)
