Sound Setup

Hey, I'm not too experienced with amps/heads (I've always just used a single crate amp with a Boss Metal Pedal). I decided to step it up a notch and have a decently large (not sure to how many watts) Crate amp (double cab I think) and a Carver head. I have a noise suppressor and a Boss Metal Pedal. I have a Schecter C-1 Elite with Les Paul Humbuckers. So I just wanna know how to get a decent sound out of the amp/head/guitar to get the pickups to perform the best pinch harmonics. And also a little advice on how (and what) to play around with in order to get a good heavy metal sound. Sometimes I like it real deep, but sometimes I like a lighter metal sound. Any suggestions? And as far as the noise suppressor goes I'm in the dark, so any help would be muchly obliged. Thanks!
