Are Exposed Coil Humbuckers and Open Coil Hmbuckers the same thing?

Is the exposed coil just another way of saying open coil and vice versa? Thanks all!

Unless you're referring to some trouble-shooting diagnostic. An 'open' coil would then be one that has a break in the wire of the coil itself, or the connections to it.

Otherwise, I think both phrases refer to humbuckers without covers on 'em.
